Toyota Innova Crysta 2.8 Z

Whenever someone says the word MPV, all one can think about is the Innova Crysta which is the king of this segment. The one I have reviewed is the top model the 2.8 Z.The starting price of the Innova is Rs15.67 lakh and the one i reviewed the 2.8Z, costs Rs22.57 lakh.Innova is a very good looking MPV with a not so imposing appearance.Front is the most attractive bit with chrome slats on the grill and a lot of piano black finish below that. The headlights are sharp and also very long if we start to measure it.There are daytime running LED lights which are like 4 small dots near the grill in the headlights, and LED projector headlamp with high beam which is a bulb.Below the headlamps are the foglamps and the indicator. The 2.8, as the name suggests, has a 2.8 litre inline 4 engine that punches out 174 BHP and 360 NM of torque which is unnecessary beacause the Innova is not available with a 4 wheel drive option and cant do any sort of offroading. If you want a car that has all the features that the Innova has but can still go offroad, get a Fortuner. But hey , thats about twice the price of the base Innova. There is nothing interesting about the side profile of the Innova except the 6 window design. Those who dont know what 6 window design is, your standard car has a 5 window design, when a car has that useless little window on the lower side of the A pillar, it is called a 6 window design. So is the case with the back. The interior of the Innova is right up there with that of a Mercedes or a BMW.There are 2 drive modes, power and eco.Eco is for saving fuel and power makes the car feel more punchy. The only problem is the infotainment system that looks aftermarket and is very low res, even the backup camera. The good news is that the Innova has a frigde which you can turn on or off via the flick of a switch. The drivetrain is a 6 speed auto, you can also get manual but no one really goes for that. The real magic is in the middle row, there are 2 seating layouts, 6 seater which gives you 2 captains chair for the middle row or the 7 seater option that gives you the standard bench seat for 3.If you ask me the Innova is much better with the 6 seater layout that gives the passenger behind the front passengers seat the ability to move the front chair forward and increase his or hers legroom and go on full executive mode. The front seats of the Innova are also equipped with picnic tables so that the middle row passengers can enjoy their lunch dinner whatever they would like. The roofline of the Innova has blue coloured ambient lighting which gives the cabin a nice and airy feel.3rd row of seats is a good place for kids but for adults its crampped with not a good amount of kneeroom. As you would expect, the Innova is afterall made by Toyota so it definitely has no sunroof and you are absolutely right. The Innova is a very practicle car considering that it is a 7 seater, with 300 litres of bootspace and plenty of space in the centre console and door pockets it is one of the best cars you can buy today. My final verdict is ; i have heard some people say that the KIA Carnival is better than the Innova but they are wrong, not because the KIA is not a good car, but because these cars belong to 2 completely different segment of cars. Also the KIA is not as efficient as the Toyota with the Innova averaging around 14 kmpl which is really impressive.Simply just buy the Innova it is really the best MPV money can buy and is unrivaled in every shape and form.
